Cream or Sugar Anyone?
Nikki Zalud was working on road construction some years ago. She was working as the flag person, and it was a cold morning in October. On this morning, Nikki and her counterpart were working the flags and were chilled to the bone from the crisp October morning. It was apparent to Nikki that fall was coming to a close and Old Man Winter was knocking at the door.
Every morning and every afternoon, there was an old man who passed back and forth through the construction zone. He was a kind man, and Nikki developed a sort of friendship with him. He was someone she looked for every day; he always said, “Good Morning”, and had a kind word for Nikki. This morning was no different than other days, the man came by, waved at Nikki, and off he went. Nikki went back to work flagging cars and didn’t give the man another thought.
A little while later, the man came back through the construction zone. Nikki smiled at him thinking he was making another pass through like he had any other day. But today the man pulled over to the side of the road and got out of his car. He handed Nikki a piping hot coffee; she was thrilled, the coffee would no doubt warm her up. He had another for her counterpart. Nikki smiled and said, “Thank you so much, this is so nice of you; this is just what the doctor ordered.” The man smiled back and said, “Cream or sugar anyone”? This made Nikki’s day. Not only was the man thoughtful enough to bring coffee, but he was so thoughtful that he brought cream and sugar, too. This is another backyard miracle that Nikki remembers vividly. Who is your miracle?
